Project Soul Cell is a portable and collapsible lamp designed to let users continue social activities outside when it gets dark.
Industrial designer Jesper Jonsson, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, created this solar lamp for his BFA Thesis Project. The portable and collapsible light is charged by the sun during the day to provide energy to illuminate it at night.
Project Soul Cell was designed to let users continue their social activities outside when it gets dark, like hanging out on a balcony or on a boat. The lamp folds flat for convenient storage and in its smaller form it is easier to carry around with you.
It has a bigger surface area to emit light onto when needed, as it unfolds through a twisting motion in order to light up. The solar lamp also features a strap with magnets so it can be hung in different ways, whether it is open or closed. Click through to see images of Project Soul Cell:
