DuPont Corian solid surface is on its way to world domination, the synthetic alternative granite-like material that can be found in kitchen counters, lamps, exterior cladding of buildings, and installed everywhere meeting rooms to hospitals and research labs. The alliance sees the solid surface combined with PMA wireless charging technology, allowing consumers to charge their phone simply by placing it on their Corian countertop. One possible rendering shows the PMA-approved Duracell powermat technology charging on the countertop. Says Ron Resnick, president of PMA:

The next phase in wireless power is seeing it embedded into surfaces used for furnishing solutions.DuPont has been driving innovation for decades in the area of advanced materials. The collaboration between both company’s innovations marks another step forward in our vision to make smart wireless power a ubiquitous part of our lives.
