People post and reveal so many things on their social networks whether intentionally or not. For those who want to express themselves or divulge their secrets anonymously, there is now an app that they can easily use.

The Whisper app lets its users share their thoughts or secrets anonymously by writing text on top of images. The app is similar to the popular PostSecret website, but it has features that help create a sort of social network of anonymous users.

Users can respond publicly to any post and they can also send private messages to other users. Users can also see which posts are new, which ones are popular, and even which posts are ‘nearby.’ With the location aspect, the app aims to create an environment that makes people feel they are not alone.

Aside from letting people connect with each other in a safe virtual environment, Whisper has also created a nonprofit called Your Voice, which aims to help people whose posts on Whisper are actual cries for help.

The app’s number of users are growing steadily and it has been reported that Whisper has just raised millions of from venture capital firms like Sequoia Capital, Lightspeed Ventures and Trinity Ventures.

The app is available on iTunes and Google Play.
