What started out as a father-daughter bonding pastime, has turned into a complete project that plays around with the stereotypes of each of the 50 states. Canadian photographer Jeff Freisen uses lego blocks and characters to tell the story of America through the eyes of a friendly neighbor. The project, 50 States of Lego, includes scenes of hippies living in California, crocodiles sampling human flesh in Florida and 48 other equally as entertaining ones.
Every picture was taken as is. With little to none photo-editing work done, Friesen wanted the project to be a good-natured and whimsical treat for people of all ages. After having been to most of the states, Friesen created these scenes with a degree of personal knowledge of what goes on behind the state lines. Nothing is blown out of proportion, and is told in such a way that makes it easy for anyone to relate to.
Here are a few selections from his collection of 50. Do you think it accurately sums up your state?
