The Windroos tent is a prototype that turns with each gust to protect users from bad weather.
The Windroos tent is a prototype design that turns with the wind to shield those inside from bad weather, while allowing them to experience the outdoors at the same time. Developed by a team including Belgian industrial design student Simon Boury, it was commissioned by ‘Bolwerk vzw’ who were looking for a bar tent to use at festivals.
The tent is both powered and inspired by nature and designed to be placed at events like beach festivals and open field festivals. As bar tents have to be open so people can order their drinks, the design turns with the wind so it won’t rain inside.
The tent consists of two parts: a bar which stands still and a shield which rotates on a pole attached to the bar. Click through to see images of the tent and check out a proof of concept video below:
