Artist Elliot Frantz creates incredibly detailed images on pieces of corrugated cardboard, using the material’s lines to imitate different textures. Three recent portraits he has produced include Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and the movie poster from the 1940’s film This Gun for Hire.

The impressive portraits, recently posted to Reddit, required a lot of patience. Frantz started creating the cardboard pieces a few years ago, when it took him a couple of weeks at least. Now he says he can get an original done in one or two days. He used to use an exacto blade to create them but these three were done with a detail knife. Click through to see the carved portraits:
