Dystopian scenes from around New York immortalized inside these Christmas souvenirs.

While most snow globes capture an idyllic scene from the holidays, those created by Miss Heather of NewYorkShitty.com are the quite the opposite. Urban Renewal is a line of hand-crafted snow globes that capture everyday events that happen across NYC like Santacon, stop and frisk, and public nudity.

Miss Heather first had the idea of creating a series of souvenirs from places (literal and otherwise) that people don’t want to go to. She struggled to find a way to express the idea properly until a recent breakthrough, which can be summed up in three points:

  1. In just over a month the Bloomberg Administration will be over.
  2. Mayor Mike’s New York City is *quite* dystopic.
  3. I need only leave my apartment, parse through the photos I have taken over the years or simply surf the Internet to find inspiration/material.

So, if you’re not inclined towards the holiday spirit, or have your own gripes about the city, consider these particular snow globes to be souvenirs that represent 12 years of what the Bloomberg administration has done to the community.
