Digital “Do Not Disturb” Sign Helps Roomies Avoid Embarrassing Walk-Ins [Video]

Users can hang a “digital sock” on the doorknob to avoid an awkward confrontation.

Sharing an apartment with a roommate can be one of the best experiences in your 20s – guaranteeing cheaper rent, a constant influx of friends, and someone to watch your cat when you’re on vacation.

However, when you’re looking for some privacy, this set-up might not work out so well. To avoid any embarrassing coital moments, Clorox developed the Sock-It, an iBeacon-powered app that will notify anyone in proximity to your door that you’re rather busy at the moment.

Instead of actually fumbling to hang a sock on the doorknob, people can turn on the app’s “Do Not Disturb” feature and it will automatically send a notification to anyone with the app installed on their mobile device, reminding them to come back at a later time.

Compatible with iOS devices, this app is free to download and extremely easy to use – check out its promo video below.
