Giant Water Slide Provides New Form Of Urban Transport

Giant Water Slide Provides New Form Of Urban Transport

A UK artist is bringing a 90-meter chute to the hilly streets of Bristol.

It’s safe to say that commuting to work can be a hellish experience, full of traffic jams, backed-up trains, and angry drivers. But, what if we could transform that time spent into a playful and fun adventure?

Dreamt up by artist Luke Jerram, a giant water slide in central Bristol could provide city dwellers with a fun new mode of transport, if just for a day. The artist has previously brought pianos to the streets of New York and London and created the largest solar powered light fixture in the world.

Park and Slide is scheduled to take over Park Street on May 4th as part of the city’s Make Sundays Special initiative. This architectural intervention raises questions about traditional urban planning, and would provide an affordable alternative to costly urban infrastructure.
