Catatonic is a visual showcase that happens all inside your head (and VR headset)

Catatonic is Guy Shelmerdine’s newest unnerving work. The advertising director known for his off-beat humor has created an immersive experience that uses optical illusion to blur reality from fiction in a very mental way.

The experience happens all with a smartphone. The smartphone sits inside the Samsung x Oculus Gear VR headset which uses lenses to turn the screen into two VR screens. Accurate accelerometers and high-speed processors allow the headset to generate almost blur-free stereoscopic images that trick the eyes into thinking it’s looking at actual space and not just a flat picture.
