The Frequent Flyer app measures background data and gives travelers points that can be exchanged for tickets with participating airlines

Location insights company Placed has launched a new app that enables passengers to trade their location data for airline miles. Frequent Flyer is available for free on iOS and Android, measuring location data in the background after being installed and requiring little to no effort from the consumer.

Users earn points in return for this data, which can be redeemed for sweepstakes entries and miles on different airlines, including United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines. Frequent Flyer measures data including apps and location for the purpose of analytics and reporting, providing meaningful insights to third parties. Users can choose to opt out at any time by uninstalling the app.
