The Threesome Tollbooth is a new bar meant to create an extremely intimate atmosphere

Going out for a quiet drink with a partner is easier said than done in New York City, with most establishments packed after work and on the weekends. A new bar is looking to help thin out the crowd by thinning out its space, leaving only room for two guests and the bartender. The Threesome Tollbooth in Bushwick was opened by artist N.D. Austin, who created the space using the supply closet of a now-closed Italian restaurant.

After making a reservation, guests are led into a closed alleyway and into the small bar, where they are greeted by a bartender. Austin told The New York Times that the space itself reflects the clients who reserve it: “It changes every time according to who comes and what they bring. After all, you’re the only one there.”

For an hour of cocktail service, the experience costs between $100 to $120 per person, which may be worth it for customers looking for a more intimate—and very unique—bar experience.
