These lamps were designed to fit seamlessly into a home and work with smart assistants like Alexa

The market for voice assistant gadgets continues to expand as homes get smarter. However, Mladen Barbaric, the founder of innovation company InstruMMents, thinks these devices lose their value when they fail to integrate naturally into a home. This prompted him to create a collection of intelligent lamps called Olie to bring this technology seamlessly into a home environment.

InstruMMents created two versions of the lamp, one for a nightstand or table and one standing lamp. The nightstand lamp comes with a wireless charging station at the base. These lamps operate with either Alexa or Google Home assistants. Barbaric chose to blend voice assistants with lamps due to people normally placing lamps in important locations in their home.

The lamp collection went live on Indiegogo with a goal of $30,000, which the campaign reached within 48 hours.
