The X-class ties in with X-fighters in a new campaign

Mercedes new UK TV spot Follow features lurking space fighters on a road trip in the new Mercedes X-class pick up. As a way to align with the appeal and energy around the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and its X-fighters, the spot also features fun moments with all sorts of creatures, crews, archetypes and a monster who just wants to play. It feels more reminiscent of The Warriors than Star Wars, but the special effects are breathtaking and the music hits the spot.

More of a commercial play than an actual product tie-in, the truck doesn’t have the collectible coveting as the Lexus Sriracha car, John Varvatos Chrysler 300C, or the Nissan Limited Edition Rogue One model, which was created specifically for Star Wars. Moving forward, it would be interesting to see more limited edition cars reflecting the attributes of pop culture-driven brands in a more authentic way.
