Parrot launches drones that help firefighters and farmers

Firefighters and farmers can now benefit from aerial line of sight with Parrot’s new line of commercial drones, the Bebop-Pro Thermo and Bluegrass models. The use cases for drones outside of recreational is growing and Parrot, initially a personal use drone maker, is gaining a foothold by developing drones to target a specific need.

For example the Bebop-Pro Thermo has a 14MP camera and a thermal imaging camera, a Flir One Pro. This is perfect for firefighters in rescue situations.

The Parrot Bluegrass can cover over 70 acres and 230 feet in altitude. It’s equipped with the Parrot Sequioa, a multi-spectral sensor HD camera created specifically for detecting problems with crops. It can also be set to fly autonomously.

The drones launched last month and retail for $5,000.
