Leandro Erlich’s 'Sous le Ciel' is on display on the escalators in Paris' Le Bon Marché

French retailer Le Bon Marché, known for being the first ever modern department store, has unveiled another installation from a contemporary artist. Leandro Erlich’s ‘Sous le Ciel' (‘Under the Sky') is on temporary display at the Paris store. Black lines on a white canvas give shoppers the illusion that the iconic escalators twist and turn in all directions.

The piece is finished off and illuminated by a glass ceiling revealing the gentle blue-and-white French sky. To add movement to the entire piece, the lights and colors react to the season, weather and time, according to Designboom.

Le Bon Marché has previously worked with other contemporary artists like Ai Wei Wei and Chiharu Shiota.
