Insurance company Hiscox conveys the importance of strong cybersecurity with a billboard that shows attempted hacks in real time

It can be hard to fathom just how often cyber attacks happen, but it is certainly more common than you think. In order to highlight how frequently small businesses are the target of hackers, U.K. insurance company Hiscox built a special billboard to highlight the threat in real time. Created with creative agency AMV BBDO and Grand Visual, the billboard reads “Every pulsing dots represents a live cyber attack.”

The “cyber attack” dots beat red when honeypot servers—a special kind of server designed to lure and trap hackers—is being attacked. The service estimates that 1 in 3 small businesses have their servers attacked, and according to a press release from Hiscox, the servers for the billboard averaged 23,000 attempted hacks per day.
