LEGO Embraces Voice As A Powerful Tool For Play
LEGO launched an interactive game for Amazon Alexa that combines verbal storytelling and physical play
In addition to being fun for kids, playing with LEGOs can have developmental benefits as well. LEGO decided to expand on both by combining the art of storytelling and LEGO building with a new interactive skill for Amazon Alexa called LEGO Duplo Stories.
LEGO Duplo Stories has Alexa narrate stories as kids make their LEGO creations. The game comes with several scenarios to choose from, including stories involving animals or transportation, such as planes and cars. Following the story, players guide LEGO character pieces to the destinations they built, essentially acting out what they hear.
Duplo Stories isn’t just meant to be fun. The creators say the game helps to develop social and cognitive skills along with language and color skills. “Voice is such a powerful tool for play as it is one of the most human ways of interacting,” LEGO’s Head of Emerging Platforms & Partnerships James Poulter said in a statement. LEGO Duplo Stories is available now on all Alexa-supporting devices for children between ages 2 and 5.
