Called Pinto, the food-scanning app finds the right items for any diet plan, tailoring the grocery-shopping process for customers' specific needs

Today’s consumers are very curious about the nutrition of the foods they are buying, and reading labels has become a regular habit for many. Health app Pinto aims to personalize the process, scanning the nutrition facts via a bar code and then assessing them according to the users’ preferences.

Once the user enters their specific diet or health concern, the app will focus on nutrients that needed to be avoided or sought out. For example, people on a ketogenic diet want to find food that is low in net carbs, but high in protein and fat. People who are heart conscious will want to find food low in sodium and saturated fat.

In addition to providing useful features like a search engine for diet-appropriate foods and a meal tracker, the app also aims to offer an enjoyable and aesthetically-pleasing user experience, crafting playful GIFs of a chocolate bar jumping rope to demonstrate how long a user would need to exercise to burn off their consumed items.

While there are many food-tracking apps available, Pinto aims to differentiate itself by condensing many useful tools into one simple package, hoping to help users stay on track even while shopping for groceries.
