While some fans will still sit back and watch—either from the sofa or the bleachers—they are doing so while simultaneously using their phones to connect to their friends and the broader community in the seats around them and beyond. Other fans are out there ‘in the game’ every day, engaging on both Amateur and Professional levels, whether in the park or stadium, or on their mobile device or console.
Fans are viewing, creating, interacting with and sharing content produced by official leagues, brand sponsors, teams and fellow fans—fundamentally transforming the live experience. This PSFK research paper has been developed to help companies involved with the creation of the entertainment experience understand key trends that can be leveraged to keep pace with fan behaviors and expectations.
