In 2009, Travis co-founded Uber, a mobile application connecting travelers with drivers for hire. Uber is currently in 100+ cities globally. Prior to Uber, he successfully co-founded the peer-to-peer file-sharing company Red Swoosh that took advantage of increased bandwidth efficiencies to enable larger files to be shared between users. Red Swoosh was acquired by Akamai Technologies in 2007 freeing up Kalanick, a serial entrepreneur at heart, to start Uber.
